Types of Massage Therapy at SSOR

Massage Therapy at SSOR

SSOR offers massage therapy at both the Overland Park and Prairie Village locations.  Did you know though that we offer four different types of massage?  Well, we do!  Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Reflexology Massage, and Sports Massage.   Below we have provided a brief description of the types of modalities we provide to our clients.  Feel free to talk to our massage therapist Kelly Henry about what type of massage is best for your needs and goals.
Swedish Massage is composed of long smooth strokes, kneading, and circular movements on the superficial layer of the muscle.  Using this technique we are aiding the flow of blood back to the heart and also increasing the oxygen flow in the blood.  The other benefit to this modality is that it potentially shortens recovery time from muscle strains. Swedish massage is very gentle and relaxing.

With Deep Tissue Massage, we target the deeper muscles and connective tissues in the body.  Deep tissue massage still uses slower strokes and friction across the grain of the muscle.  Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve muscle pain and increase mobility throughout the body.  The goal of deep tissue massage therapy is to break down the adhesions found in the tissue.

Reflexology Massage involves applying pressure to certain points on the foot that correspond to organs and systems in the body.  Reflexology is very relaxing especially for people who are on their feet all day.

Sports Massage is particularly designed for people who are physically active.  Massage therapy strokes and movements are typically quicker than Swedish. Additionally, facilitated stretching is incorporated in the massage to help loosen muscles and increase flexibility.

It would be a privilege to be a part of your overall comprehensive health care plan and partner with you in your desired outcome.  SSOR offers a discount on massage therapy for current patients and in addition to individual massages, we offer three and six-visit massage therapy packages.  Remember, one hour means one hour at SSOR – your massage is a full 60 minutes, not 45-50 minutes like the “other guys.”  Your money goes farther at SSOR.  (913) 728-8599
